Having every interested person come to the home of one of our volunteer foster homes just isn’t feasible. We ask all interested adopters to complete our adoption application and start the process first. Only those who seem like a good match will be invited to meet the dog in person. Occasionally, our dogs attend special adoption events, where you can meet them before applying.

It varies. We’re all unpaid volunteers with full-time jobs outside rescue, and we appreciate the time you took to apply. We often get several applications for the same dog, especially right after we post a new one, so we only contact applicants who are a good fit. On average, expect a 7 to 14 day window. At Paws it Forward, we are committed to finding the best match for our dogs. The more information you give us, the better sense we get of you as an adopter, and whether it is a good fit.

When you apply to adopt, you get an auto-response that walks through the process, including the fact that we only reach out to suitable matches. If you are wondering about your application, just email us and we will answer and update you on where things stand. Coming to an event and meeting us in person is another good option, even if the dog you are hoping for is not there.
